Alleged West Palm Beach Hitman Pleads Guilty To Killing Wife At Her Husband's Request

A West Palm Beach man pled guilty to acting as a paid hitman for a husband who wanted his wife dead.

Investigators say the 21-year-old man was approached by the husband two summers ago with a proposition for killing his 33-year-old wife. The husband allegedly spoke to another man about the idea, asking him if it were rational to hire a hitman, as he no longer loved his wife.

A few days later, police say a masked man broke into the home shared by the couple and shot her in the head, killing her. A subsequent investigation turned up a letter allegedly written by the defendant detailing the crime, including his payment for the job and his receipt of the murder weapon.

Police arrested the defendant after a three-month investigation, and he was charged with first-degree murder. In addition, the husband was also arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the case. With jury selection for the husband's trial scheduled to begin later that day, the defendant entered a surprise guilty plea, agreeing to admit to second-degree murder in exchange for a lesser sentence and his testimony against the husband. Should his testimony match with what he told investigators, he is facing a sentence of between 5 and 20 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the husband's trial continues, with a possible sentence of life in prison should jurors find him guilty later this year.
