A Tampa man already in jail for unrelated reasons is now facing murder charges in the September slaying of another Tampa man.
The 18-year-old was arrested on December 4 for allegedly violating his parole. Investigators say he is responsible for the shooting death of another 18-year-old man who had moved to the area only a short time before.
Per authorities, the suspect lived in the vicinity of the shooting at North Brooks and East Annie Streets. Tampa police were dispatched to the area on the evening of September 3 to investigate reports of gunfire, but upon their arrival they instead found an apparent victim of the reported gunfire. The 18-year-old victim had been shot while riding his bicycle, but police have not indicated the number of gunshots sustained by the victim. Though the quantity remains unreleased, the effect is known, as the victim expired at Tampa General Hospital not long after.
The suspect was charged with second-degree murder earlier this month. He continues to be held without bond on the probation violation charges.
