Authorities Say Surveillance Video Leads to Arrest of Woman Involved in Ruskin Twin Killing

monitoring-1305045_640.jpgHillsborough County authorities say video footage helped them identify a woman whom they later charged with first-degree murder in connection with a home invasion in Ruskin.

Investigators say Samona Louise "Mona" Ramey of Wimauma approached the mobile home of Alexis Martinez and asked him to drive her to another location. According to the police report, Martinez exited his home and was subsequently accosted by two other men, both of whom were armed.

Per the investigators, the surveillance camera tells the rest of the story - the men hustled Martinez and Juanita D. Solorzano, also within the residence, into a back room. They say the video then depicts the pair ransacking the home of guns and illegal drugs, flipping over furniture throughout the residence in the process. Police say Ramey remained in the yard throughout the attack, but pitched in by helping scour the area for dropped drugs with aid from the light on her cellphone.

Deputies were summoned to the residence shortly afterwards and say they encountered the remains of the 24-year-old Martinez and the 33-year-old Solorzano in addition to evidence of a burglary.

With the video in hand, investigators say they confirmed Ramey's identity with an unidentified person with whom they say she had been in an intimate relationship. Deputies arrested the 32-year-old last Monday at a local hotel, allegedly discovering items taken from the murder scene in her possession. The two other men remain at large.

Ramey was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on two charges of first-degree felony murder, one charge of cocaine possession, one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, one charge of possession of lorazepam, one charge of possession of methamphetamine, one charge of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription (tizanidine), one charge of introduction of contraband into a detention facility, eleven counts of armed home invasion, and one charge of killing an unborn child. She is being held without bond.
