Lake Worth Man Charged with Murder After Alleged Sword Attack

Palm Beach County authorities say a sword was the weapon of choice in an alleged murder last week after they discovered a bloody body adjacent to railroad tracks in Lake Worth.

Sheriff's deputies received a report of a man covered in blood on the railroad right-of-way last Saturday afternoon. Upon their arrival they discovered the mortal remains of David Beckett, a 58-year-old transient who was living at a nearby homeless encampment until his demise earlier in the day. In addition to the body, deputies found a three-foot-long sword that they surmise played a decisive factor in Beckett's untimely death.

Deputies say they connected the sword the killing in short order to 51-year-old fellow transient George Christopher Livingston. Authorities surmise the two men had an argument that led to the altercation and its fatal results, and deputies arrested Livingston the same day.

Livingston was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center just before ten o'clock that evening on a single count of second-degree murder. He's being held without bond.

According to local media, Livingston has a history in the Florida penal system, twice serving terms for aggravated stalking.
