Though Christmas is a trying time for many in the Tampa area, authorities say the holiday ended in murder for one family after an 82-year-old Plant City man allegedly shot and killed his 50-year-old son.
A Tampa man with a long history of mortgage fraud is again returning to long-term state custody after entering a plea of guilty to wire fraud.
Lawrence Dickey of Plant City was convicted earlier this week of second-degree murder for fatally clubbing his wife Beatrice with a bat in 2011.
According to police, Lawrence Douglas Dickey confessed to killing his wife Beatrice Ann Dickey in their Plant City home this weekend. A Plant City police officer reports that Lawrence Dickey said, "Lock me up. I just beat my wife with a bat. She is hurt real bad." He has been charged with first-degree murder in Hillsborough County Circuit Court.
