A Crystal Beach man is facing a charge of attempted murder after Pinellas County authorities say he shot and seriously wounded his brother.

Deputies say they were summoned to a residence on Avery Avenue last weekend to find a 36-year-old man critically wounded. They say the man’s father told them that the man had been in an argument with his 28-year-old brother earlier in the day.

In the course of the argument, deputies say the younger man told his brother that he “had something for” him and produced a firearm. The younger man fired a shot that hit his brother in the abdomen, per deputies, exiting his body near his tailbone.

Upon seeing what he’d done, deputies say he fled the residence with a bag in his hand. He allegedly returned a short time later without the bag. First responders arrived to treat the wounded brother, ultimately transporting him to hospital, where he continues to recover.

Deputies arrested the younger man at the residence and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail. Investigators say he claimed no knowledge of the incident. He continues to be held in jail without bond. Per local media, he has a lengthy record in Pinellas County for arrests on allegations of battery.
