A Wesley Chapel man is facing a murder charge in relation to a body found last month along Spring Hill Road.

The case against him began when the remains of a 47-year-old woman were found on July 26 along the side of the road near Spring Lake Highway. Discovered just before dawn, authorities say the remains displayed a death that was decidedly intentional.

Pasco County authorities say the defendant was long considered a suspect. He was apprehended the next day on charges of driving without a license. Deputies arrested him and booked him into the Pasco County Jail to be held on a warrant for drunk driving in Louisiana.

Deputies towed his car upon arresting him and obtained a search warrant for it shortly after. They did not disclose what it was that they allegedly discovered within, but they say it was sufficient to charge the defendant with the crime of second-degree murder.

The Pitsburg, Mississippi continues to be held in the Pasco County Jail without bond. He will be served with the warrant from Louisiana once his cases in Pasco County are resolved and he is transferred to Hillsborough County.
