St. Pete Woman Charged With DUI After Allegedly Crashing Into Police Cruiser

A St. Petersburg woman is facing DUI charges after allegedly striking a police cruiser while intoxicated.

Officers say a 53-year-old woman was driving on 5th Avenue North in the early evening of April 11 when she encountered a patrol car operated by the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The stationary patrol car, which was located near 51st Street, immediately halted the progress of the defendant’s Honda Accord. The officer assigned to the vehicle was not injured in the wreck, nor was the defendant.

Further details were sparse. Police say the defendant was treated at the scene for minor injuries but declined to go to hospital. She was arrested at the scene and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of DUI crash with injuries and refusal to submit to testing. The North Carolina native was released just before dawn the next day after posting a bond of $1,150.
