Man faces 3 charges for hit-and-run crash with police car

If you decide to drink, the last thing you should ever do is drive. It's not safe to get behind the wheel when you're intoxicated. If you do, you could end up causing problems that lead to legal trouble.

Take, for example, a case out of Florida where a man has been arrested for a collision with a police vehicle. It may have all just been bad luck, but he now faces serious penalties.

The news reports that the man was arrested on New Year's Day after he rear-ended a police vehicle. He fled the scene of the accident, but he was later arrested on suspicion of a DUI. The Clearwater Police later stated that the man was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with three different charges for his involvement in the crash; the department did not specify which charges he would be facing.

Cases like this one are important to look at because they show that you won't necessarily face a single charge if you cause a DUI-related accident. If you are drunk and hit someone, you could be charged with a DUI and for causing bodily harm to another person. You could be charged with reckless driving, too, for example. If you leave the scene without permission, you could even face hit-and-run charges.

Traffic collisions happen, and while many of them are complete accidents, being intoxicated will complicate your case. Your attorney will work closely with you to fight any DUI charges you face and to help you reduce the impact of DUI charges on your life.
