St. Pete Man Allegedly Violates Protective Order To Slay Ex-Wife

A St. Petersburg man already wanted for stalking is now facing murder charges after authorities say he killed a woman and severely injured another.

Police say the defendant laid in wait within the home of his 60-year-old ex-wife and her 34-year-old daughter last Friday. Armed with a knife, he allegedly attacked them both in their home on 22nd Avenue North just as they entered. Once done, police say he fled on a bicycle.

The carnage allegedly left in his wake was great. Police say they arrived to find both women grievously wounded, the elder succumbing to her injuries at the scene. The younger woman was taken to hospital by emergency personnel for treatment of her wounds.

The defendant was apprehended a short time later, only blocks from the scene and still aboard his bicycle. According to officials, this is the latest of a long line of interactions he's had with law enforcement and the courts this year. In January the defendant was arrested for trespassing, and the following month he was charged with aggravated stalking. August saw him being charged with violating the terms of his probation in February, and he was incarcerated until October on these charges.

The 52-year-old native Floridian was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of armed burglary, violating an injunction or protection order from domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, aggravated stalking, first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and first-degree arson. He continues to be held in jail without bond.
