Gibsonton Man Facing Murder, Corpse Abuse Charges After Allegedly Killing Acquaintance And Dismembering His Body

A Gibsonton man is facing several felony charges on allegations by the police that he murdered another man and dismembered his body in order to attempt to cover for the crime.

Hillsborough County investigators say the 32-year-old man was in a trailer home with another 29-year-old man in late November, as well as four other witnesses. The witnesses say the defendant ordered them to retire to a bedroom and remain there until told otherwise.

Witnesses say they heard the report of a handgun shortly afterwards, followed by the return of the defendant. Upon his return the witnesses say the defendant swore them to secrecy, promising that they would come to harm if they spread word of the murder.

A short time later one witness says he saw the defendant with what appeared to be a bloody body rolled up in carpet, while another says the defendant gave him a firearm to hold until he took it back and hid it elsewhere.

A few days later another witness says the defendant asked him to help move the remains a few yards away from the mobile home, which he declined to do. The victim’s remains were found in a partially-burned state a few days later.

The Mexican native was arrested about a week later and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. He faces a raft of charges, including evidence tampering, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and felon in possession of a firearm. He remains incarcerated without bond.
