Prosecutors Won’t Seek Death Penalty In Case Against Palm Harbor Sisters Accused Of Killing Father

Pinellas County prosecutors confirm that they will not seek the death penalty in the case of a pair of Palm Harbor sisters who are alleged to have killed their elderly father.

According to investigators the sisters, one 61 years old and the other two years her senior, are on trial for allegedly killing their 85-year-old father in 2015. Investigators say the victim, who suffered from dementia at the time of his passing, told them he did not wish to go to an assisted-living facility prior to his death.

Deputies say they found the man unresponsive and were told by the duo that they attempted to resuscitate him, but to no avail. He did not respond to subsequent attempts by first responders, and no autopsy was performed upon his remains due to his advanced age and health problems.

The sisters allegedly asphyxiated him with a rag and kept the act under wraps until recently, when they allegedly became romantically involved with the same man. The man made a recording of the sisters describing their actions, and the recording found its way into the possession of the authorities.

Per investigators, both women confessed to the slaying.

The women were booked into the Pinellas County Jail in early March on a single count of first-degree murder. They both continue to be held there without bond.
