An argument at a Tampa apartment complex took a fatal turn last week, leading to murder charges for the surviving party.
According to Hillsborough County authorities, a 23-year-old man was engaged in a verbal conflict with an unidentified female on the evening of May 13. The relationship, if any, between the duo was not disclosed beyond the fact of their acquaintance with each other, but authorities noted that they lived in separate units of the apartment complex.
A 9-1-1 call summoned police to the scene, at which they discovered the female bleeding from several stab wounds in the kitchen of her own unit. Though first responders attempted to revive her, their efforts were in vain and she expired at the scene.
While responding to the call, officers also witnessed a man exiting through a rear entrance despite their calls for him to stop. The man, whom they say was covered in blood, was apprehended after a short chase on foot.
The Florida native was arrested at the scene and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was booked on charges of resisting an officer without violence, first-degree murder, criminal mischief, and violating probation. He is also being held on three warrants from Pinellas County. The suspect continues to be held without bond.
