Tampa Man Arrested In Connection With January Slaying

Pinellas County deputies made an arrest last week in a January homicide that they say began with an argument over a woman.

Authorities say the defendant was visiting the woman at a Tampa mobile home park when the victim accused the defendant of paying for sexual services from her. Later that night an argument allegedly began, with the victim chasing the defendant while peppering him with racial slurs between continued allegations of prostitution.

Per deputies, the defendant then returned to the area, this time in a vehicle. The argument again ignited, and they say it culminated with the defendant firing 11 rounds at the victim, mortally wounding him.

The 35-year-old Puerto Rico native was arrested on March 7 and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a single count of first-degree murder. He continues to be held in custody without bond.
