Plant City authorities say a Seffner man caused a three-vehicle accident that took the life of a 57-year-old woman last week.
Per police, on December 26 the 38-year-old suspect drove his 2005 Chevrolet Colorado across the grassy median of the James L. Redman Parkway just after sunset.
Investigators say he exited the median and struck a 1995 Ford Contour heading southbound, sending it careening into a 2016 Ford Focus heading in the same direction. The suspect’s vehicle then rolled, landing on its side, while the Contour came to a stop in the roadway and the Focus ended up in a ditch.
Though the full extent of injuries was not reported upon in local reports, a female passenger in the Contour did not survive the encounter. A second, male occupant was severely injured as well.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail early on January 20. The Michigan native is facing charges of reckless driving with serious bodily injury and vehicular homicide. He was six days later after posting a bond of $52,000.
