Second Man Suspected In Attempted Felony Murder In November Arrested

handgun-231699_640.jpgA second man suspected to have been involved in a near-fatal drug deal gone bad in November turned himself in to St. Petersburg police earlier this month.

Per investigators, the 19-year-old man, in concert with another 19-year-old man, gave a ride to an 18-year-old man on November 16 last year. In exchange for the ride, investigators say the victim was to pay the duo a quantity of cannabis.

Police say the duo had other ideas, however. Upon arriving to the destination, the two men allegedly attempted to rob the third. Though it is unclear what exactly transpired, police say the man who turned himself in earlier this month fired at least one shot at the victim, while the other man pushed the victim out of the vehicle.

The victim was critically wounded in the fracas, and police say he sustained an injury to his spinal cord during the encounter. Meanwhile, police began an investigation that led to the arrest of the other alleged assailant on December 20. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and attempted felony murder, where he remains in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

The second man was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on January 7 on a single charge of attempted felony murder. He was released seven days later upon posting a bond of $100,000.
