Pasco County authorities say a drug deal gone bad led to the fatal shooting of another man, the critical injury of a woman, and wounds to a Bayonet Point man.

Per Pasco County deputies, Ariel Felder met Anthony Douglas Blount in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the outskirts of Beach Woods Village on the evening of August 15 to conduct a sale of illegal drugs. As her Nissan Altima eased up next to Blount’s Dodge Durango, police say two men, one of them named Jamarques Codling, first entered then exited the Durango and ran toward the Altima.

Upon seeing the two men rushing toward her vehicle, Felder threw the Altima in reverse and attempted to flee the scene, but not before Codling was successful in entering the car. Meanwhile, Blount allegedly exited the Durango and fired off over a dozen shots at the Altima.

At least two of Blount’s rounds hit home, per investigators. They say one struck Felder in the head, and another struck Codling, mortally wounding him. However, before himself expiring, Codling returned fire, succeeding in wounding Blount.

Deputies say Felder is in critical condition and the other unnamed man is still at large. A subsequent investigation of the crime scene allegedly turned up significant quantities of cannabis and cash.

Additionally, police say the entire episode was captured on surveillance video, but they have thus far declined to release the footage.

Authorities did not specify how Blount was captured, but captured he was, and subsequently booked into the Pasco County Jail on counts including felony murder, attempted felony murder, and three probation violations involving cocaine possession, flight from police, and domestic battery by strangulation. He is currently being held without bond.
