A Fort Lauderdale woman stands accused of murder after Broward County authorities accuse her of fatally beating her elderly mother in a rage.
Investigators say Gabriela Perero was informed by her mother Luisa on July 12 that she was not part of the will Luisa had drawn up. Per law enforcement, the news of her disinheritance prompted Perero to fly into a murderous fit.
The 53-year-old woman allegedly told officers later that she accused her mother of ruining her life. In response, they say she informed Luisa that her life would be ruined as well, and began the assault.
Per investigators, Perero pushed her 85-year-old mother to the floor and began to beat and choke her. Once the battery ended, Perero says she bathed her mother and put her in bed, calling 9-1-1 afterward.
Luisa fought for her life, defying a death declaration early on, but her wounds proved to be mortal the next day.
Perero was taken into custody on July 13 and booked into the Broward County Jail on charges of premeditated murder and aggravated battery on an elderly person. She remains in jail without bond.
