A Tampa man was arrested earlier this month after troopers of the Florida Highway Patrol say he was intoxicated when he wrecked his vehicle into a Pasco County fire truck and subsequently left the scene.
Troopers say Thomas McCrimmon III was piloting his Honda Element south on I-75 on the evening of March 3 when, just after ten o’clock, he collided with a Pasco Fire Rescue vehicle just south of State Road 56.
According to authorities, the stationary vehicle was parked alongside the road to respond to a one-car accident at the location. FHP troopers were on hand as well, some of whom witnessed the alleged incident.
The troopers at the scene say the 44-year-old McCrimmon did not linger at the scene. He was stopped shortly after by a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputy and placed under arrest. Neither McCrimmon nor anyone at the scene of the wreck reported any injuries.
McCrimmon was booked into jail on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. No further details were made available by Pasco County authorities.
