Co-Defendant Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison After Guilty Plea in Moon Lake Murders

Rather than facing the prospect of death at the hands of the state, a woman charged with four counts of murder pled guilty last week and was sentenced to two-and-a-half decades behind bars.

Authorities say Dora Delgado, along with co-defendant Christopher Lee Duncan, together murdered three individuals and wounded a fourth at a residence in Moon Lake in what they say was an argument over illegal drugs. Delgado’s participation allegedly involved cornering a victim in the bathroom and shooting her, leaving, then returning and shooting an already-deceased victim a second time.

Though Delgado initially pled not guilty, the prospect of a trial meant the possibility of a death sentence. Rather than run the risk of such a sentence, Delgado changed her plea last week. As a result, she was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the attempted murder, and a concurrent 25 years for second-degree murder.

Delgado’s co-defendant Duncan, who was represented by Bjorn Brunvand, pled guilty to three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of solicitation to commit murder, and a single count of attempted murder. His guilty plea spared him from a possible death sentence as well, as the court sentenced him to life in prison instead.
