A Spring Hill teen is accused by Hernando County authorities of shooting a woman in the face, critically injuring her.

According to Hernando County sheriff’s deputies, Christian Fitzgerald accosted Brianna Goble at an apartment complex clubhouse last Thursday evening around half past nine. There are no reports regarding what went on between the two, but authorities say Fitzgerald fired at Goble, striking her with at least one round in the skull.

Goble was subsequently taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital where her condition was stabilized. According to Sheriff Al Nienhuis, doctors expect that Goble’s injuries will not be fatal. Investigators declined to specify a motive for the alleged crime, but they said several witnesses identified Fitzgerald as the shooter, and that the pair knew each other, explicitly rejecting the premise that the alleged act was random in nature.

Fitzgerald, whose last known address is approximately eight miles from the scene of the shooting, has a criminal record stretching back to 2012, when he was charged with misdemeanor battery at age twelve. He was convicted of misdemeanor battery at age fifteen. He was also arrested four times for failure to appear that year. The next year yielded another misdemeanor battery conviction. Deputies arrested Fitzgerald at his residence mid-afternoon the next day.
