A 69-year-old St. Petersburg man has been charged with murder after police say he stabbed his roommate to death.
St. Petersburg police say that Willie James Jefferson and his roommate, 59-year-old Willie Edward Evans, became embroiled in an argument last Friday evening at the residence they shared in Bartlett Park.
Authorities say the argument became violent, and the two men engaged in a physical altercation. During the fight Jefferson allegedly stabbed Evans. Little more is known of the details, but what is clear is that Evans did not survive the evening. He was pronounced dead at the residence.
Jefferson was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries he experienced during the fight. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail at midnight Saturday morning. The South Carolina native is currently being held without bail on one count of second-degree murder.
