A St. Petersburg man was arrested without incident last week after a warrant was issued for him in the matter of the killing of another man in Jordan Park earlier this month.

Police say they arrested Denzel Rashad Tarver four days after the warrant was issued against him. Authorities allege that Tarver shot Timothy Karl Davis, Jr. on May 15 near a housing complex at 11th Avenue South and 23rd Street.

Although St. Petersburg police arrived at the scene around ninety seconds after the altercation, they say that Tarver had already departed by then. They began first aid upon Davis as they awaited the arrival of paramedics. However, the attempts at aid were fruitless, and Davis expired at the scene.

Davis’s relatives told local media that he was the father of six children and was in the process of reintegrating into society after his release from prison. Florida prison records indicate that Davis was released last February from state prison and was under community supervision after serving four years of a five-year sentence for two counts of aggravated assault.

Tarver was booked into Pinellas County Jail early Saturday afternoon on one charge of second-degree murder. He is being held in lieu of a $1,000,013 bond.
