Pasco county authorities have preferred charges against a Brooksville man alleged to have driven the wrong way on a state road while intoxicated last fall, causing an accident.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Richard Lazavier Sandora piloted his 2002 Dodge Stratus in an easterly direction on the westbound lanes of State Road 52 in Land O’ Lakes in the early morning hours of November 6. The 26-year-old’s vehicle allegedly struck the 2009 Nissan Maxima driven by Aaron Vetter, a resident of New Port Richey.
The alleged head-on collision led to the serious injury of both drivers, sending them to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Sandora’s blood-alcohol content was tested in the course of the FHP’s investigation, allegedly yielding a result of 0.22%, which is almost three times over the level Florida statute presumes incapacity.
Sandora, who turned 27 in March, was booked into Pasco County Jail last Sunday evening on one count of DUI accident with injury. Born in Schenectady, New York and listing an address in Brooksville as his residence, Sandora is being held at present in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
