An argument last week landed one St. Petersburg man in jail facing charges of first-degree murder and another in the morgue.

According to authorities, Thomas Peruchi drove to the St. Petersburg home of Trevor Scott last Monday, initially intending only to pick him up. However, police say the 23-year-old Peruchi assailed the 22-year-old Scott with a knife instead, stabbing him.

The mortally wounded Scott was able to exit Peruchi’s vehicle, at which point Scott fled the scene. Scott was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he succumbed to his injuries.

As Scott was being taken to the hospital, police say they received a call 1.6 miles away from a party seeking medical attention for lacerations on his legs. Officers determined that Peruchi’s call was related to Scott’s injuries, and, after being released from Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, Peruchi was taken into custody.

Originally from Alaska, Peruchi listed a residence in south St. Petersburg. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail early the next morning on one count of first-degree murder. Peruchi is being held without bond.
