A pair of Tampa brothers have been charged with crimes related to a murder committed last November.

Hillsborough County authorities allege that Lewis James Scott, Jr. and his younger brother James Luis “Snoop” Scott are responsible for murdering Clair-Mel’s Evelyn Marie “Eve” Woodham and setting fire to a mobile home in an attempt to destroy evidence related to the murder.

A person on horseback discovered Woodham’s battered body on November 1 near 20th Avenue S and 58th Street. A warrant was issued for the 28-year-old James Scott shortly thereafter due to investigators discovering evidence they say relate to the murder in a partially-burned mobile home. Scott was apprehended on Tuesday of last week and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail late the following moring.

James Scott is currently being held without bond on charges of first-degree murder, evidence tampering, witness tampering, failure to appear in court to face charges of driving on a suspended or revoked license, and violating his probation by committing a second domestic battery offense, witness tampering, and possession of cocaine.

Lewis Scott, Jr. was arrested on December 6 and charged with first-degree arson. On December 17 county prosecutors added the charges of first-degree murder and accessory after the fact. The 28-year-old is being held on a $30,000 bond.
