Seffner Man Charged After Discovery of Meth Lab

On Behalf of | Jun 28, 2013 | Uncategorized

Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip that someone was manufacturing methamphetamine at a local motel, Hillsborough County deputies found an active lab beneath the bathroom sink in a room at the Masters Inn Tampa East in Seffner this week, according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The report indicates that Devin Ray Devoe of Seffner invited the deputies into the room, where they discovered eight children and three other adults. Deputies responded to the room on a tip, along with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, HAZMAT and representatives from the Child Protection Investigation Division.

Law enforcement officers reported seized 86 grams of methamphetamine from the lab as well as 1.6 grams of marijuana and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine from Devoe’s pockets.

After being advised of his constitutional rights per Miranda, Devoe allegedly admitted to deputies that he was running the meth lab. Apparently, several rooms in the motel were evacuated for safety purposes as members of the Fire Rescue and HAZMAT clandestine lab team neutralized the lab at the scene.

Devoe now faces eight counts of child abuse (for allegedly placing the eight children in harm’s way, as methamphetamine labs can be toxic and dangerous) as well as charges of possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture of a controlled substance and trafficking in illegal drugs.
