Pasco County School Bus Driver Arrested for DUI

Earlier this month, Tampa police arrested Zachary Manning of Land O'Lakes for driving under the influence. Manning, listed in jail records as a bus driver for Pasco County schools, was driving his 2008 black Mustang when he allegedly hit the back of a parked van in the parking lot of Tampa Letter Carriers Hall on Cypress Street in Tampa.

According to the law enforcement affidavit, Manning had vomited on himself and his car. Officers also noted that Manning had glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unable to stand.

Manning ultimately gave a breath sample to law enforcement and police recorded his blood-alcohol level at .156 and .158. In Florida, a driver is presumed impaired for the purposes of driving at .08 percent blood-alcohol level.

If this was Manning's first DUI arrest, he faces up to nine months in jail (up from six months due to his alleged high blood-alcohol level) and up to 12 months probation plus 50 hours of community service and a fine of $1,000 to $2,000. If he is convicted of DUI and has his license suspended, he will most certainly lose his job as a bus driver.

If you or someone you know is facing DUI charges in the Tampa Bay area, you are well-advised to contact an experienced DUI defense attorney to help you navigate the criminal and administrative implications of a DUI charge and/or conviction.
